MAKING ROOM

TODAY I MADE ROOM FOR THE FABULOUS NEW TABLE!!!

I figured out where to move tables to make room for the  new table
I Won!!!

WAITING

The new table will look perfect in this space!!!

We will have a little wait!  The table is back ordered, which is OK.  It's surely worth waiting for!  It should arrive mid June.

PLAN A
SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Continuing the domino of the table moving ........

The table that was there moved to the

 Master Bedroom

This is the table I received from my neighbor in Sun City.  It  looks even better here than it did in the Great Room.

There was a table in this space that moved to:

TV/Guest Room

I love this table in this room.  With just a little tweaking this room becomes a guest bedroom!  The TV is in the closet!!!

NOW
WE WAIT!!!

Beth and Kristy, from My Design Chic Blog     http://www.mydesignchic.com/   had been running a contest.  All one had  to do was purchase a copy of Dear Carolina, post something on a blog about the book, mention it on Facebook, etc. all  promoting Kristy's fabulous book,  Dear Carolina!!!  I did all those, so I entered!!!

Over 1000 entries and Rafflecopter picked my name!!  Even now I can't believe it.  I thought I was dreaming, but the pinch hurt!!

Beth and Kristy have a wonder Shop on their blog.   The $500 was good on any of their fabulous items!!  MC and I  played with the "Wish List" and choose many different things, changed them out over and over.  For hours we went over every single item in the Shop!  You must go to this page on their  blog!  The items that they have are out of this world!

We ended up with this gorgeous cocktail table!!!

A graceful, oval design in gold leafed, forged iron under sturdy, clear tempered glass.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY....MC

Happy Memorial Day to all, but especially MC.
It's been exactly 40 years since MC looked like this!

He was a Major in the US Air Force.  He was a Navigator flying two different planes during his years ...the C-124 AKA Shaky and the C-141.

Just a  coincidence,  but he's been working on his newest  MC Little People and finished it last night.
How appropriate to finish it this weekend.

This one brings back a lot of memories.  It's very hard to believe it's been 40 years!!!!!

CIRCLES

IT'S DONE AND UP!
Our Movado clock.

MC hung it late last night.  We waited for morning to take pictures in better lighting.

It's really awesome and I'm so proud of My MC!

I love it....
All the circles, the circles in the rug, the round chandelier, Japanese fishing float, round accent table and now the clock.  We also have a round glass dining table and a round mirrored accent table. (not shown in the pictures).
I'm simple dizzy going  around in circles!

The Story Of Our New Clock

 FIRST
I wish to thank Beth and Kristy for the lovely afternoon yesterday and their posts on their  blogs this morning, with picture, of Kristy's book signing at the Corner Book Store in Winder, Georgia.
 http://www.mydesignchic.com/

MC and I had a Ball

 MC to the Rescue....once more!

Except for doctor visits I've been in the house  these last few months.  Glad to report I'm about back to my normal "pain in the neck" self!  Can't say that makes MC all that happy!

When you stare at the same walls for weeks on end your mind wonders.  At least mine does.  I thought "We need a large round piece over the fireplace to carry out all the circles we have in the room.  In the rug, tables, etc."
While we were at the book signing we mentioned MC's latest project.  Beth suggested we show it in steps along the way so here goes

Plan A
First idea was to search for a large round mirror.  MC and I went to all the normal sources.  Nothing popped out at me.

 Plan B
I then got the "Epiphany" to look for round large clocks.  We have one in MC's den/study/hideaway.  He wouldn't part with it, but it did give me the assurance that a large round clock was what we needed.

Again we went to all our sources.  I found one at ZGallerie BUT the  price was a NO/NO.

 Plan C
Not to give up I said:  "Honey, you can make one"  That was all I had  to say.  He did some research and we were in Lowes the next afternoon looking at 4 x 4 pieces of plywood. Got our piece.   Only......we couldn't get it into the car!  MC carried it back into Lowes and had them cut 2 inches off both ends.  So now we had a 46" piece.  It FIT in the car!  A start!

He had no problem making it  round with all his wonderful power tools.  It's now 43" round.  Perfect.

He also ordered the hands and works for a clock on line.  They arrived yesterday.  He sprayed them gold!

He primed and started painting the plywood.  My vision was a clock mimicking a Movado watch,  After 5 coats of black paint it didn't look right.  Due to it's plywood the paint didn't look smooth.   So....

Plan D

This afternoon we headed to JoAnn's Fabrics for a faux leather fabric in black.  Found the  perfect bolt,  and we were on our way.

MC just finished gluing it to the board and it looks great.

Hopefully we are on the right track and will have our Movado clock very soon.

AND
BUY "DEAR CAROLINA"
It a wonderful story.
The first of many from Kristy!

GRAND AFTERNOON

Yes, Today, May 11,  was the day!    Kristy had her book signing for Dear Carolina, her first book!  This afternoon the signing was in Winder, Ga. not far from Grayson and MC and I attended .  Would not have missed it for anything!  We  had a wonderful afternoon.

Kristy and her Mom, Beth write the  My Design Chic blog  http://www.mydesignchic.com/ and Kristy has her own blog  http://www.kristywoodsonharvey.com/

I received my copy of the book on Saturday and have been reading it since it came.  I finished the last page as we pulled into our parking space at the book store. With book in hand, MC and I approached the door and within a second, Beth came out and said:  " Oh Patty, we are so happy you were able to come."  She guided us to the rear of the store where Kristy was set up to do the signings.

Kristy, her Mom, Beth,  two of Beth's sisters, Nancy and Anne and Little Will, Kristy's 3 year old son were there.  They are a wonderful, close,  loving family.  They were so gracious to MC and me and made it a point to introduce us to everyone that come.  They made us feel so special.

Thank you my dear friends for making today so, so special.

SOMETHING THAT IMPROVES WITH TIME

When MC and I moved into our "Happily Ever After" home our view left a lot to be desired. MC promised he could improve it, so I went along and signed the papers.    He is SMART  and has always fixed the impossible.   This time I was not sure,  and had a lot of doubts.  LOTS!!

To me this was a task I felt he just might not be able to FIX!

Our view, the brick side of our neighbors home with all their utility boxes and air conditioner.  Not the open vista we left that let in tons of natural light!

This was how it looked before MC started his magic!

It has been a year, and we have come a long, long way. It's looking so much better.  Time will only enhance it more!

We have removed the sofa and put our long dining table that MC made a couple of years ago.  It's a perfect outside Dining Room!   Love it.

MC added 10 shrubs to give us the privacy we needed.  We hung the flowing sheers and there are shades that pull down to the ground if needed.  Our little HIDEAWAY !!!!

He worked so diligently digging and planting.  It gave him the inspiration for a new MC Little People.

He put the finishing touches on MC the Landscaper this morning...

I LOVE the shorts!  He has a pair exactly like them.

Tonight MC took a few minutes to rest and celebrate all his great accomplishments.  Our space looks fabulous and as usual HE WAS RIGHT!

ANOTHER JOB WELL DONE

DEAR CAROLINA BY KRISTY WOODSON HARVEY

Hi,
This is a HUGE RED LETTER DAY for a fellow Blogger,  Designer and Friend.  I have admired Kristy and her Mom, Beth Woodson's  blog Design Chic for years.  Kristy has written her first book which is being launched today, May 5th.  It has received numerous,  fabulous reviews.  I preordered my copy and can't wait for it to arrive!  I am also excited to be able to attend one of her book signings next week in Winder, Georgia.

I wish to introduce you all to these two gracious ladies.  I highly recommend their blog, it's classic content is above all.  And....today I highly recommend Kristy's book Dear Carolina.

Here is a small summary of Kristy and the book.
Enjoy,
Patty

Kristy

Welcome! It’s so nice to meet you. I can’t wait to get to know you! I’m Kristy, wife to the boy whose eye caught mine across the restaurant nearly a decade ago. I pronounced him my husband and haven’t looked back since – or doubted my intuition ever again! We have the most incredible two-year-old boy that is pure joy. (And, yeah, the occasional tantrum.)
I’m a Southerner through and through, a North Carolina girl who loves all four seasons – especially fall in Chapel Hill, where I went to college (Go Tarheels!) and summer in Beaufort, where we spend every free moment. (I’m sitting at my desk in Beaufort in this picture!)
I blog at Design Chic about how creating a beautiful home can be a catalyst for creating a beautiful life. And I’m blogging right here about absolutely everything else!
My first women’s fiction novel is forthcoming from Berkley (Penguin Random House) in Spring 2015. My dream of being a published author is finally coming true and I. Can’t. Believe. It. What’s your dream? (You know, that one you’re afraid to say out loud?) I just know it’s about to come true!

A moving debut novel about two mothers—one biological and one adoptive—from a compelling new voice in Southern women’s fiction.
One baby girl.
Two strong Southern women.
And the most difficult decision they’ll ever make.
Frances “Khaki” Mason has it all: a thriving interior design career, a loving husband and son, homes in North Carolina and Manhattan—everything except the second child she has always wanted. Jodi, her husband’s nineteen-year-old cousin, is fresh out of rehab, pregnant, and alone. Although the two women couldn’t seem more different, they forge a lifelong connection as Khaki reaches out to Jodi, encouraging her to have her baby. But as Jodi struggles to be the mother she knows her daughter deserves, she will ask Khaki the ultimate favor…
Written to baby Carolina, by both her birth mother and her adoptive one, this is a story that proves that life circumstances shape us but don’t define us—and that families aren’t born, they’re made…
“Characters with rich, complicated lives…beautifully shows how a family comes to be.”—New York Times bestselling author Jodi Thomas
“Dear Carolina is Southern fiction at its best. Lovely and lyrical, with the strong voices of the two female narrators taking us deep into the heart of what being a mother is about. It shows us that love is not without sacrifice, and there’s little in life that doesn’t go down easier with a spoonful of jam. Beautifully written.”—New York Times bestselling author Eileen Goudge
“Dear Carolina is like the Southern women within its pages and those who will love this book, sweet as sweet tea on the outside and strong as steel on the inside. The dialect of the south is so entwined in these pages the reader is  transported to a place where women and children are treasured and family rules all. Kristy Harvey is a natural.”—Ann Garvin, Author of On Maggie’s Watch and The Dog Year
Southern to the bone and full of engaging characters, Dear Carolina is a strikingly beautiful story of love and sacrifice. Kristy Woodson Harvey’s debut novel captures your heart and doesn’t let go; her keen insights into a mother’s love will stay with you long after the last page. — Kim Boykin, author of Palmetto Moon and The Wisdom of Hair
