MONDAY MADNESS

Monday, why not PLAY?

I had an urge  to "Dress" my mantle!  A number of the Bloggers I follow are dressing and doing miracles to their client's and their own mantles.  I have never done a thing!  The mantel is very shallow!  Thought whatever I put on it--- would fall off.  But, I decided  it's MONDAY I'll try anything!

Now, when something, and I literally mean anything, changes in the BLH, more than one thing changes!  And this time did not fail!  We have changes!

I doubt anyone is surprised.  I am still amazed at all the different looks I can accomplish with the same items (stuff).   I guess over the 54 years we have been married we have a fairly good amount of accessories.  Not to mention the ones I have handed down!  (some of which I beg for back...)  I'm always finding something to add.  Of course when I add something, I put something away!  Years ago, a dear friend, who was an amazing artist/designer,  told me never to have everything displayed .  Put things "away" and later bring them back out.  They become NEW once more!  It's great advice and I have followed it for many years.

So a few changes have been made.   Nothing new or great!  Simply PLAYING!

The Great Room now is completely OPEN.  The trees are all green and I do enjoy seeing the entire VISTA without any blocking.  We also will be adding some "color" in the form of potted plants to the Terrace and it will add to the view!

SO.....this Monday was PLAY DAY!

Patty
MC has been in the Garage!  He did some work on his next MC Little People piece!!!

  1. Bill would really be so proud of you... and I'm sure an avid blog watcher!

I have to say though, I liked the dress over the window! And if you leave it on a wall, the frame needs to go back to gold... just my opinion!

  2. I get what you are saying. For your final opinion, wait until you get here. I like the effect of the black frame over the mirrored desk with the black legs. And the dress POPS! If the piece was in the bedroom I would agree, gold, but in the Foyer I think the black works better. In the winter, when the "Vista" is trees without leaves, maybe I'll put it back. Now it looks nice seeing the Vista full with greenery.

  5. I love it when you play :) And that is great advice: not to display everything you own! I've been busy playing with our accessories.....getting ready for a small photo shoot with Southern Living. Yay! Your mantel looks wonderful Patty!

  6. I much prefer the open view out the windows. Love the whole arrangement of the room as well.

Great advice about putting things away and bringing them back another time.

  8. Good Morning Patty! Thank you so much for visiting this morning. Your home is gorgeous and I had to chuckle when you said..after 50+ yrs marriage.. you've accumulated lots. Yes, I can relate (after 31 yrs!) and over time we become a little more creative. Also have to tell you that I have my christening dress in a frame as well. It looks almost identical to yours except the frame is white! Beautiful dress and placed perfectly.

  9. I don't have a mantel in my home but I sure play around with every other available surface. I love natural light - it's the best accessory!

  10. Patty,
I love that you have been married for 54 years and are still keeping things new and fresh~ Nothing like a little change to give things a brand new perspective.

  11. No matter how small your mantel....just leaning something and adding greenery works every time!! And I don't want to talk about what I have put away.....to bring out when I'm re-accessorizing:)
