DAY 2
For 2 1/2 years I lived with the Iron Curtain! I hated it from Day One! In reality it was a small feature, but one that drove me nuts! To be honest, none of our friends who have one in their homes are bothered by them! It's just me....I am weird! MC knows that and loves me all the same!
David and his assistant arrived early and got to work!!!
Trim work beginning!
A little paint!
The wall on the side of the upper cabinets created a discussion, and a decision was made on the spot!
David decided to create a great trim effect!
Attached and painted!
THE ADDED TRIM REALLY GAVE IT THE NEEDED FINISHED LOOK
PERFECT!
Now we wait......to have the Drywall......Dry, before final paint can be applied!
The secret to no Mess!!!
MC WAITING
CHAPTER 3
DAY 3
Yesterday, David seamed the granite together with Silicone. He decided to wait and see how it "set" overnight. He wasn't 100% sure it would buff smooth. He would make the decision in the morning....
First thing this morning he decided he would return on Monday and remove the Silicone and replace it with Epoxy. He wasn't satisfied with the Silicone. He wants the surface to be as smooth as possible and feels Epoxy will do a much better job!
He touched up the now "dry" Drywall and trim.....Job COMPLETED
THE REVEAL

AFTER
NO IRON CURTAIN......OPEN AND FREE
CONCLUSION....
SMALL DETAILS CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD
PattyI wish to add that David was a joy to have in our home. What I have failed to mention is that the first day he came he had a 4:00 Dental appointment. Early on the Second Day he had 6 ---YES, 6 teeth pulled! But he came, on time, before 9am. and did a Great Job!
Although he was in great pain, he came on Saturday, Day 3 and worked on touch ups. he was back this morning to replace the silicone with the epoxy. He had been to the dentist twice over the weekend for emergency work. We have one small detail left.....which he will take care of on Thursday.
Wow! Wow!! what a HUGE difference it makes and I so agree, it is all in the details. So glad you added the trim up the wall, nice touch. Looks so GREAT Patty!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend, Kathysue

ReplyDeletePatty,
ReplyDeletePlease tell your "David" that I am praying for his speedy healing and that his work is great. How amazing that he rallied to your rescue to create a free and open space for you. It is the details that make a huge difference.

Patricia, I will let him know! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHe did a wonderful job under a ton distress!
What a difference! I never understood the value of those "iron curtains" anyway as a design decision. I guess they were supposed to help one "hide the mess" but I would rather put the dishes away! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI must say I have thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to your blog. Your home is lovely and yes, small changes can have big results!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! What a difference it has made.....well done and yay for your guys! Looks like they did a great job:)
