OR
LOST AT SEA!
Yesterday, I was so sure I had the greatest idea since sliced bread for an arrangement! I went to bed pretty happy!
Then this morning, in the daylight, I realized it was a nightmare!
I have to admit it's a darn good thing I "work" for myself! Having myself as a "client" allows me the freedom to experiment, play, and try all sorts of fun things! And MC....Well, he just sits back and laughs!
I have decided that I don't have to be a 100% FLOATER! Although I don't think I am a Hugger either!
What I saw this morning, was a RAFT filled with furniture in the middle of our Great Room. ....
I thought, " What was I thinking?"
So I started from scratch and cleaned the slate! I have spent the better part of the day trying all sorts of arrangements. Some were really "out of the box"! It has been quite a fun day!
I changed quite a lot of accessories! Moved lamps and tables. Found objects from other rooms and closets and cabinets. I truly robbed my "warehouses" for objects.
MC had something to occupy him, away from the house, all day. I thought I could tell everyone what he's up to, but I want to wait. I want to be able to SHOW you, not just write it! Sorry ......
I wanted to use three of my apothecary jars on the cocktail table. But I didn't have anything to fill them with....the light shinning through the empty jars made them look cloudy and spotty. They are not the best of glass, let alone crystal. I found them at Home Goods for $12 each! Dear , Dear MC suggested I fill them with some of our gold Christmas Tree balls!!
So here it is the day before EASTER and I am filling apothecary jars with Christmas Decor!!! Love, Love the insanity of it all!!!!
BUT IT'S OK......I JUST NOTICED THAT MY CHRISTMAS CACTUS HAS STARTED TO BLOOM!!!!
It's a POP of GOLD
I ended up with another popular arrangement used over and over. In case the pictures don't show it, I am attempting to allow the cocktail table be the CENTER of the room. I say "attempt" because I really have no clue what I am doing!! I tried to create the "illusion" of two sitting areas, one on each side. And......I have made a traffic pattern that works. I can get from the front door to the Kitchen on a diagonal straight line!!!!
SOFA SIDE WITH FRENCHY CHAIR
OPPOSITE SIDE WITH SLIPPER CHAIRS
AND
MY COMFY CHAIR
Dining Room
Added Round Mirrored Table

Nothing wrong about not being a floater!! Looks good!! You are definitely a mover and a shaker. xo
ReplyDeleteStay afloat and hug the boat!!! Just don't get sea sick!! I like the comment from someone on your previous blog that said she had rooms that were huggers and others that were floaters....maybe that's what you'll have too. Have fun figuring it all out!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think it was possible but you might be more obsessed/crazy than I am:). Isn't it fun:)
ReplyDeleteI admire how much energy you have especially in changing rooms around. If the room doesn't "feel" right then of course you should move things around. I totally understand.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter. :)
Patty! I'm glad you tried again today. I didn't want to say anything negative yesterday but I thought it all looked a little bit too tight and squished. Today, I am LOVING this arrangement. Its breathable and lovely! Great job and I love that you trust your instincts and have the energy to experiment!
ReplyDeleteYour husband sounds like a dream - as long as you don't move "his" chair!
ReplyDeleteDonna, you picked that up! I don't dare move that Stressless chair!
ReplyDeleteSherry,
ReplyDeleteIT'S A BALL!
I likey! Love your gold ornaments in the jars. Their reflection from the coffee table is awesome. I need you to help me stage. Reconfiguring furniture arrangements is gratifying but hard work.
ReplyDeleteI'm a floater and semi hugger, too....I like you have my couch on the window wall instead of facing the fireplace. I enjoy it that way b/c like you said in your last post, it cuts the room in half. Anyway, it's interesting watching your progress. I really love the drapes in ths room, where are they from? I stopped by looking for your kitchen hardware... I'll browse around.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay to move things around until you like the final arrangement. Hope you had a great Easter celebration, Patty (and MC, or course!)

It's looking great, Patty! Nice to know I'm in good company! :)
ReplyDeleteLove this one! I like how the black and white bounces around the room and carries your eye around with it. Your chinois panels in the dining room are gorgeous, and love the mirrored pieces!
ReplyDeleteDay 3- did yesterday's arrangement pass the morning test this morning? I love it. If you want non-Christmassy gold things in your jars, how about gold foil candies or those metallic jordan almonds?
