HOLIDAY TOUR 2013

December 8, 2013

I wanted to show our home before the Tour begins.  It's been fun preparing for the Tour.  A lot of work, but I love it, every bit of it!
The tree was a joy to work with!  All my gold ornaments fit right in!   I do very little  "Christmas", except for the tree and  a few vignettes here and there.

Please enjoy your visit......and Thank You for coming!

LOOK FOR SOME IMPORTANT CHANGES....

Dear, Dear Friends, I haven't disappeared!
I have been very "quiet" for over a week.
I apologize for not commenting on all my Friends' Blogs. I will again soon.
Lots of things are happening and I can't say anything .....yet......

MC and I will  have the BLH on Sun City Peachtree's Holiday Tour of Homes on December 8th.  I have a lot of stuff to do.   We have to wait for our local fabulous,  nursery to flock and prepare for sale,  their gorgeous flocked trees!  Hopefully by the end of this week they will be ready!

I also been asked by our Golf Club to decorate their Dining Room and Foyer for the Holidays.  I have put together a great team of "Designers"(our fabulously talented neighbors)!!! We will be at work at noon the day after Thanksgiving.  The manager has NO idea what his Christmas inventory is!!!!  We will arrive, uncrate. open boxes and go to work.  Have no idea what colors or themes, if any.....we have to work with.  FUN!
But.....it WILL LOOK WONDERFUL!

Please be patient and hang on!  I will be myself again ......soon!

Thanks,
Patty

THE SAGA OF A SPLINTER !!!!

THIS WILL BE SHORT .
ON SEPTEMBER 14 I GOT A SPLINTER IN THE INDEX FINGER ON MY RIGHT HAND.
WE TRIED TO TAKE IT OUT OLD FASHION WAY.   NO GO.
THEN TO THE WALK-IN CLINIC WHICH REMOVED A SMALL SLIVER ON SEPTEMBER 19.
STILL NOT ALL OUT.
ON OCT 15 WENT TO INTERNIST.....WOULDN'T EVEN TRY...SAID TOO NEAR TENDONS

YESTERDAY VISITED A BONE/JOINT SPECIALIST WHO LOOKED AT IT AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR OUT-PATIENT SURGERY.
.
THEN THIS MORNING I HAD THE SPECIALIST PERFORM THE SURGERY AT A SPECIFIC FACILITY FOR SUCH THINGS

TOOK THREE ATTEMPTS TO PUT IV IN FOR ANTIBIOTICS.   VEINS GREAT---SKIN TOO THIN.
WAS THOROUGHLY PREPPED FOR SURGERY.
DOCTOR INJECTED SEVEN NUMBING SHOTS IN HAND.
I'M IN HUGE OPERATING ROOM.   FOUR NURSES/MEDICAL PEOPLE PLUS THE SURGEON.
ALL READY TO START.  I AM COVERED HEAD TO TOE IN BLUE CLOTHS.
OH, I AM ALSO WRAPPED IN THREE BLANKETS ...ONE HEATED.
THEN THE HUGE LIGHT LOSES POWER.  NEW LIGHT MOVED IN.
SURGEON STARTS
SPLINTER REMOVED IN LESS THAN THREE MINUTES
RECEIVED ONE STITCH AND BANDAGED.
BROUGHT BACK TO A CUBICAL, WHERE I AM TOLD TO GET DRESSED
NOW, MY ONE HAND IS USELESS.
NO WAY TO  HOOK  YOU KNOW WHAT
SOME HOW PULL ON THE REST

OK   ALL THIS BECAUSE I INSIST ON PARKING OUR CAR IN "NEW CAR" SPOTS.  DID THIS AND GETTING OUT OF CAR BRUSHED AGAINST A HOLLY BUSH.....THUS THE SPLINTER.

I CAN NOT USE UPPER AND LOWER CASES.  THIS IS ALL DONE WITH INDEX FINGER ON LEFT HAND.    THE USE OF THE MOUSE IS IMPOSSIBLE...

THUS I CAN NOT COMMENT  FOR A FEW DAYS   SORRY.

MEETING FABULOUS....MARY KAY ANDREWS

Mary Kay Andrews is a fabulous Author,  I have loved reading!
Her characters and story lines are fun and keep you wanting more!

Last night I had the opportunity to meet her!   A great evening!

One  of my favorites is  Ladies' Night!  It's a great read and the main character, Grace,  is  a Blogger.  What not to love!

There were some lines that had me laughing out loud!  It's a Must for you all.  Grace is a riot and gets herself out of a big mess.

I signed up for Mary Kay's Newsletter.  Last week there was an announcement of her latest book, being released tomorrow,  October 15:

Christmas Bliss

There was a Book Signing party at the DeKalb Public Library in Decatur, GA  last night.  MC agreed to drive and we made our reservations.

Meeting Mary Kay was so much more than what I ever dreamed.  We got there early.  Mary Kay was signing books as we arrived!   She talked to each and every one of us, conservatively 200 people!    I brought along my copy of Ladies' Night and a book in the Series of the latest Savannah Series addition, Savannah Breeze

The Savannah Series with characters Weezie and Be Be are definitely Fan favorites!! A  new addition is an event to celebrate!

Mary Kay was in total Christmas Spirit for the evening.  She has had many book signings and has "dressed" for each in appropriate  attire.  For last evening she wore an outstanding dress which happens to be a copy of Rosemary Clooney's dress in the last scene of White Christmas.  (which she said was one of her favorite movies)

Mary Kay spoke to us  about her life, writing,  and added a lot of little interesting facts about her personal life.

Her "pen" name is a combination of her children's names, Mary Kay and Andrew!  Her husband, "Mr. Mary Kay",  is almost as fabulous as MC.  He was the bartender for the evening and her daughter, her assistant.

We learned about her writing, what it entails,  and how she feels like she has given birth each time a new book is released!

I believe we all went away with her joy of life,  generosity and  enthusiasm!   She is a "Happy Woman" who appreciates her family, life and success.

Me and Mary Kay

Mary Kay signed and wrote this note to me!!!  Thrilled to death!

More than 200 fans were in attendance.  We all received "goody bags" and a signed book.
Before Mary Kay spoke there was a fabulous spread of cakes, cheeses, fruits, breads, sodas and "adult beverages"!  Mary Kay mingled around talking to us, having her pictures taken with many Book Clubs  that were in attendance and with individuals.

I took a few candid shots of the evening....One shows MC.  There were a few other men there,  but I love this shot!

Can you find him?

GOODY BAG

We just formed  a small Book Group in our neighborhood.  I wish we had known about this event in time for all of us to have gone.   The next one WE WILL!

One of her promises to her readers is that EVERY book she writes will have a HAPPY ENDING!
She wants you to know that when you pick up a book of hers to read, when you are finished you will have a smile on your face!!!  Now that says it all!!!

Mary Kay "tries" to write 2 books a year!
MORE TO COME

MC And I Went On A Road Trip!

We headed out  for Gainesville, Florida.  The main purpose of our trip was to see my Brother, Henry, AKA Happy,  star in the Gainesville Community Theater's performance of Lend Me A Tenor.

We arrived in town as he was headed out for the Friday night performance.   We had just a few minutes to catch up at the hotel before he had to leave for the show.

This is PreShow dress!

Saturday morning we drove to his home with Panera goodies in tow!!!    SIL Pat  had   hip replacement surgery 10 days ago, and can't get around too well, let alone prepare a meal!!!!

Actually a great excuse for more Panera stuff!!!

My nephew Max, Brother, Happy and Pat

Before her surgery she managed to find this chandelier, repaint it and reupholster the chairs!  The table was a "Find" at a thrift  shop

When "Happy" left for the matinee, MC and I took a little trip to a very quaint town, about 500 residents, Micanopy, Florida .   A mini Senoia!  They have done a few films there, including Doc Hollywood!   The shops are not as fancy as Senoia, but just as cool and fun.

We found a parking spot in front of this wonderful old building!
We entered Micanopy Trading Outpost and was greeted by the owner, America Gordon!   Her shop specializes in European and Asian treasures!  She and her husband just returned from a buying trip to Europe.

America was so gracious!  She pointed out a number of her recent finds from her recent trip.

These are  clay church roof tiles that the women of the village formed on their thighs. When the church was razed they made them into candle holders....clever!

Some fabulous Asian pieces

Jimmy, her stray new friend

These marvelous works are made by an Artist that  does it all by welding!  Great unusual pieces!

Of course had to have a picture with my new friend!!

America suggested we go to the Mosswood Farm Store & Bake House, an organic coffee shop for something to drink and a pastry!.....especially the pastry!

I immediately was taken in by a fabulous chocolate "thing".   It was a double chocolate brownie!  It was delicious...no picture!  It was gone before MC could get the camera to it!   I figured it had to be calorie FREE!  This was an Organic coffee shop, right?

We went back to visit America and thank her for suggesting this great dessert heaven!  I mentioned that it was great knowing it had no calories...Dah...and America told me that they figured out it had at least  900  ........

We were getting ready to head out and I asked if she had any unusual cabinet knobs.    I told her about my kitchen cabinets!! She took one off a chest and handed it to me!!!!

Have to show it in place.  As soon as we got home MC put it up!

Back to Happy's for a quick meal before the evening performance.

 THE THEATER

 THE SHOW
That's Happy on the top right!

After the show, the Cast greets everyone in the Lobby!  I love this practice.  One theater we went to in this area also does this!  It really makes the evening very personal!

I have never, ever seen my Brother in Tails!!!
Not bad!
A little improvement from his get up when we met him at the hotel!

f

 FABULOUS EVENING
GREAT SHOW
GREAT PERFORMANCE

Before we left, I did a little tweaking in the Great Room.  No Surprise.
The reason makes sense, believe me.

The sofa is now facing the fireplace wall.  The room is 16 feet wide by 20 feet long.   The sofa, and the two slipper chairs fill the room very nicely, but the gorgeous cocktail table that MC made is 4 ft. x 4ft!   That left absolutely no room to get around!   I had to do something!  I hated to remove the table, but sadly, I did.  It will show up somewhere, in some form .....some day.  So what to use separating the sofa from the chairs...????

THE CENTURY ROUND MIRRORED END TABLE

 The proportions are perfect!

It's been a busy week.....
now what?

Patty
