THE SAGA OF A SPLINTER !!!!

THIS WILL BE SHORT .
ON SEPTEMBER 14 I GOT A SPLINTER IN THE INDEX FINGER ON MY RIGHT HAND.
WE TRIED TO TAKE IT OUT OLD FASHION WAY.   NO GO.
THEN TO THE WALK-IN CLINIC WHICH REMOVED A SMALL SLIVER ON SEPTEMBER 19.
STILL NOT ALL OUT.
ON OCT 15 WENT TO INTERNIST.....WOULDN'T EVEN TRY...SAID TOO NEAR TENDONS

YESTERDAY VISITED A BONE/JOINT SPECIALIST WHO LOOKED AT IT AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR OUT-PATIENT SURGERY.
.
THEN THIS MORNING I HAD THE SPECIALIST PERFORM THE SURGERY AT A SPECIFIC FACILITY FOR SUCH THINGS

TOOK THREE ATTEMPTS TO PUT IV IN FOR ANTIBIOTICS.   VEINS GREAT---SKIN TOO THIN.
WAS THOROUGHLY PREPPED FOR SURGERY.
DOCTOR INJECTED SEVEN NUMBING SHOTS IN HAND.
I'M IN HUGE OPERATING ROOM.   FOUR NURSES/MEDICAL PEOPLE PLUS THE SURGEON.
ALL READY TO START.  I AM COVERED HEAD TO TOE IN BLUE CLOTHS.
OH, I AM ALSO WRAPPED IN THREE BLANKETS ...ONE HEATED.
THEN THE HUGE LIGHT LOSES POWER.  NEW LIGHT MOVED IN.
SURGEON STARTS
SPLINTER REMOVED IN LESS THAN THREE MINUTES
RECEIVED ONE STITCH AND BANDAGED.
BROUGHT BACK TO A CUBICAL, WHERE I AM TOLD TO GET DRESSED
NOW, MY ONE HAND IS USELESS.
NO WAY TO  HOOK  YOU KNOW WHAT
SOME HOW PULL ON THE REST

OK   ALL THIS BECAUSE I INSIST ON PARKING OUR CAR IN "NEW CAR" SPOTS.  DID THIS AND GETTING OUT OF CAR BRUSHED AGAINST A HOLLY BUSH.....THUS THE SPLINTER.

I CAN NOT USE UPPER AND LOWER CASES.  THIS IS ALL DONE WITH INDEX FINGER ON LEFT HAND.    THE USE OF THE MOUSE IS IMPOSSIBLE...

THUS I CAN NOT COMMENT  FOR A FEW DAYS   SORRY.

  4. Oh Patty, Patty, Patty! What an ORDEAL! My heart goes out to you. Stupid, stupid, stupid Holly Bush! Shame on it. It is so crazy that 'it' grew into surgery. I bet you, my sister, are not the best patient :) Let MC spoil you and take care of yourself. Big prayers for a speedy recovery from this trauma.

  7. Once again I type a message and it disappears. Patty I wish you a speedy recovery as I've heard numerous horror stories in how serious a "simple splinter" can cause. Take things slow sweet friend.

  10. I'm sooooo sorry for all that you went through!! That is crazy, Patty. Glad it was removed. I get splinters all the time from handling antique wooden furniture, and those darn things can be so painful and difficult to remove. Take care, and let MC pamper you.
