TROUBLE IS BREWING .....
There is possibly a "problem" with the mirror tiles on the cocktail table. I know, a lot of you warned me there might be, and I am seeing that this could be becoming a reality!
We have a chip here and a chip there, and it won't be long before it's going to get to me.
I wasn't looking for a solution, not yet....and then this morning I saw two different rooms in this month's Veranda. They caught my eye! And....I began to see something, maybe an "Epiphany" developing.
Our table has great bones! MC did a great job. We had a hard time deciding on a "top" and ended up using 12" square mirror tiles, the same as the ones on the fireplace wall and surround. They have been OK. Yes, just, OK. For some unknown reason all our guests are afraid of it!!!! I have to reassure them over and over that they can put their glass on it, they can touch it, and yes, even put there feet on it!!! But it doesn't work! All our guests are intimidated by it!
Now these little chips are appearing in the corners where the tiles meet. Could be a "pressure" thing or something? I'm not an engineer! Maybe we should rethink this ??
Getting back to this morning......
MY EYES FLIPPED AT THIS.......
Oh I love it! Love the "frame" that gives it a tray appearance!!!!
Funny, Patti, you mentioned months ago to paint it gold. It wasn't on the black rug it's on now and I thought gold would look weak! .....BUT I SURE DO LIKE THIS! And...the table is now on a black rug!!! The Gold would POP!
Not sure what the top of this table is, but it looks like glass, which we can't do.
Then I flipped a few pages and saw this
Is that wood planks on the top?
This afternoon MC and I went to his favorite place in the world!!! Lowes! If I can work a trip to Lowes into an Epiphany, I know he will at least "consider" it!!!
We looked at wood flooring, found one we loved, but the strips in the box have all different lengths..." Well, .it is-- flooring!" We just need four foot strips. It doesn't come that way. Nix that idea, walked over to a different aisle!! Fell across a tongue and groove bead board unfinished product. Now we were getting somewhere.....MC could paint this a shinny black. ??????
So....this is the beginning of the "Story". What will the ending be?......"Happily ever after" or "Never Mind"!
I wish to say "Hello" to all of Pam's readers who have stopped in today. Pam writes a great blog, Simple Details.

ReplyDeleteHappy Monday to YOu and MC, thanks for your visit today,

Patty your mirror squares look great on your coffee table. Wonder what is causing them to chip? Hope you get some insights. Oh that gold coffee table is a beauty. It will be fun to watch the progress on this epiphany.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...wish I had a thought on this one, because I love the look of your mirrors. The Veranda coffee tables are stunning - can't wait to see what you and MC come up with - know it will be fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteWhat is so impressive is that you do it as soon as you think of it. I love that you don't procrastinate on any of this. Looking forward to the big reveal.
ReplyDeleteOh, they're both gorgeous, can't wait to see what you and your handyman come up with!! Thanks for the sweet mention!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! I also can't wait to see what you do! I love the inspiration so far. I love it when a furniture piece ends up coming with a great story attached. :)
ReplyDeleteI understand all too well of guests being afraid of certain furniture pieces. My glass tables in the living do that to my guests as well. I am looking forward to what epiphany MC comes up with to make it work.
ReplyDeleteI love how you styled the table.
Oh I LOOOVE where you're going with this!!! Isn't it amazing how a simple picture can be such a huge inspiration?! I say go for the whole thing- the wood plank top, the framed edge, the gold- all of it! It'll be so fab!! Oh and by the way, I think I've said this before but I just love looking at pictures of your house- it's beyond gorgeous!
ReplyDeletePatty- I love all your coffee table pics! I especially loved the comment that your husband would consider anything if it involved a trip to Lowe's...made me giggle!
ReplyDeleteHey lady. I love how these epiphanies evolve. Especially love that MC prefers Lowes over Home Depot. A man after my own heart. The mirrored table is fab but yes, I can understand your guests being worried they would break it etc..not sure what's causing those cracks, sounds like pressure being built up somewhere. Anywho, I love the wooden planks project you've set your sights on. Can't wait. p.s. If you're looking for even sized planks, then maybe going directly to a wood floor dealer or lumber yard would be best so you don't have to buy the box and have wasted pieces? better yet, check your local Habitat restore. A great resource.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you will do with your coffee table top. Whatever you ended up doing, I know it will be fab!
