"Labor" Day Weekend

First of all, to all of us who are "retired", there are no weekends.  "Holiday  Three Day  Weekend"  just means the garbage is picked up a day later and four days of mail instead of five!  Now,  that is the worst.   The US Mail, FedEx and UPS are our lifelines to the outside world!

MC has spent his Holiday Three Day Weekend working on the wall unit for his room!  I can't tell you how many times he has been to Lowes and Home Depot the last four days!  It's all part of the game!  He gets home and realizes he "forgot" a very important tool, nail or piece of wood, so back he has to go.

I have to say that the project is coming along very quickly and it's looking pretty good!

I snapped a few pictures while he wasn't looking........want to see?

He built a "base" for the lower cabinets to raise it up from the floor.

After all the base cabinets were in, he began the upper shelves.

The second upright was where I had to come in.  No picture for this reason.  I had to hold it in place while he "fastened" it to the wall and ceiling.  Not too easy!

Then the shelves began.   I had to hold up the lower one, the first one to be put in, while he secured it in place.  OOPS  he dropped it on my hand!  A little hurt there!!!  After a  little time out  the others went up!

Second side went up  a lot easier!  Leaned from the first!

Taking it all in!
ADORABLE MC

Now a little "trim" work

Just playing

Looks pretty good from the Foyer.

L
A LITTLE BREAK!
he deserves it!

Some trim work left and then the doors!

  5. Very impressive, I wish my husband was so inclined, or actually it's more that I need to trust his skills more. We just bought a big tower of power for the TV and all my stuff, and it was expensive. They are such an investment, but this is a great way to go. Can I borrow him?

  9. MC is so handy...and cute! He looks like he really knows what he is doing. It looks great so far. He works fast. I find that it always takes 3 trips to the home improvement store.

  12. I love how good it's coming along so far. My only concern is MC wearing socks sans sneakers on all these projects. Especially on the ladder. I wouldn't want that adorable man hurt in any way, shape or form.

  15. Patty, you and MC are such a great team! The shelves look great. I love that he sticks with it until the job (or that day) is done. Some of us have scattered attention spans and get distracted.

  17. I still can't believe he does all this by himself! He's such a rockstar. I highly recommend a to-do list whenever Home Depot/Lowes are involved. Otherwise you will certainly make a gazillion trips. Anywho, really just stopped by to say TGIF and a fab weekend to you and MC.
