MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL.............

LOVE ....LOVE...MIRRORS!  ALMOST AS MUCH AS CHANDELIERS......   AND THAT IS SAYING A LOT!

NOW,  I DON'T MEAN THE  MIRRORS THAT SHOW ALL YOUR PORES.. MAKE ONE FEEL OLD AND UGLY,  AND reveal THE REALITY OF YOUR  LIFE.

I'M REFERRING TO THE MIRRORS THAT ADD BEAUTY TO A ROOM!!!!!!....AND ILLUSION....
THEY ADD  DIMENSION, LIGHT, CHARACTER, GLAMOUR, YOU NAME IT...
MIRRORS ADD THE MAGIC!

SINCE THE BEGINNING OF PATTY'S EPIPHANIES,  I HAVE SHARED PROJECTS USING MIRRORS. REMEMBER THE "SPARE TIRE"?  IT'S NOW OVER THE GUEST BED HEADBOARD! IT ALSO IS THE PERFECT MIRROR TO HANG OVER ANOTHER MIRROR.....ONE OF MY FAVORITE EFFECTS!

MC HAS MIRRORED ENTIRE WALLS, CONSTRUCTED mirrored KITCHEN BACK SPLASHING,  AND LUGGED MIRRORED CABINETRY HOME IN OVER 8 BOXES FROM IKEA.  HAD TO RENT A VAN FOR THAT PROJECT, AND  MC HAS PERFORMED MAGIC WITH BUILDER BATH VANITY MIRRORS, CONSTRUCTING WONDERFUL FRAMES!

IN OUR BUCKET LIST HOUSE THE BEST MIRRORED PROJECT HE HAS DONE (SO FAR)  ARE THE MIRRORS SURROUNDING THE FIREPLACE.  OH I LOVE HOW THAT TURNED OUT!

AT THE ATLANTA SYMPHONY SHOW HOUSE LAST MONTH, PATTI AND I SAW A GREAT NEW WAY TO USE MIRRORS.  THE KITCHEN HAD CUSTOM,  PERFECT MIRRORS,  ON THE WALL OVER THE WINDOWS.  THEY TOTALLY BROUGHT THE WINDOWS, WHICH WERE SHORT, ALL THE WAY UP TO THE CEILING.  NOW THAT WAS MAGIC.  DON'T BE SURPRISED IF SOME DAY  THAT TRICK SHOWS UP HERE!  WORKING ON THE DETAILS AND THE TWEAKING!
I CAN ONLY DREAM ABOUT THE DRESSING AREA!!!!

The picture above is the fabulous, functional,  beautifully appointed kitchen.  The picture below is a dressing room/bath in the home.  So, so glamorous!

BOTH OF THESE ROOMS WERE DONE BY DESIGN GALLERIA KITCHEN AND BATH STUDIO.

JAN SHOWERS DOES FABULOUS WORK WITH MIRRORS!  HERE ARE JUST A FEW FROM HER BOOK "GLAMOROUS ROOMS"

ATLANTA HOMES AND LIFESTYLES LOVES TO SHOWCASE DESIGNERS WHO USE MIRRORS BEAUTIFULLY

JOHN EXPLAINS HOW HE ACCOMPLISHED THE EFFECT!

DESIGN BY AMY MORRIS

IN THE MAY ISSUE OF, TRADITIONAL HOME, HOMEOWNER AND DESIGNER, BERKELY VALLONE,  DESIGNED ONE OF THE MOST GLAMOROUS DRESSING/BATH ROOMS I HAVE EVER SEEN.  NOTE THE "BARBIE" SKETCHES REFLECTED IN THE MIRRORS.  ERICA HAS SOME AND WILL BE DOING HER VERSION IN THE NEAR FUTURE.  CAN'T WAIT TO SHARE ERICA'S VISION WITH EVERYONE.

MC AND I HAVE DONE SOME FUN WORK WITH OUR MIRRORS.... WE REFINISHED THE FRAMES USING BLACK AND GOLD PAINTS....FUN PROJECTS.  BEFORE,  THEY WERE OLD, STAINED WOOD....NEEDING A BIG UPDATE!

WE'RE HAVING TOO MUCH FUN

REMEMBER MY POST ON THE ANIMAL HIDE RUGS????   I REALIZE SOME OF YOU THINK I'M CRAZY TO LOVE THE LOOK.  I WENT BACK AND ADDED TO THAT POST A FEW OF THE ROOMS THAT WERE MY  INSPIRATION .....CHECK THEM OUT, YOU WILL BE AMAZED!!!

  1. I do like mirrors like the square mirrors above that fireplace but mirrors in the kitchen... i guess seeing myself full body would keep me away from the ice cream! haha

  2. The mirrors in the kitchen are ABOVE the window. You would need a step ladder to see yourself!
    Look again....

  3. Mirrors are certainly fun and make such a statement in any room. It's just tricky walking by them without looking at yourself!!
