POST SCRIPT ON ARMSTRONG INN!!!

http://www.armstronginns.com/

This morning, as we were preparing to leave, Monique Armstrong, the Owner/InnKeeper, stopped by to wish us a safe trip home.   She is lovely, and I wish my camera was handy.  I should have gotten her picture.
We had a charming visit and in the conversation she asked if I noticed a particular piece of furniture.  Her husband had bought it at Auction.  It was from the Estate of Ted Turner's father.  It's a lovely piece and I do have a good picture of it.  It's gorgeous!

Monique mentioned that they are selling this particular Inn.  They have four.  We had a hard time choosing the one we would stay at!!!   Next time she suggested we stay at the Carriage House.  We will have to go back......

Of course as soon as we got home I found the listing for the Chatham Inn on Realtor.com and have linked it below.

There is a third floor, the street level floor that is a separate part of the house.  We had the two top floors.

I wanted to share this with you and wanted to thank everyone for all their good wishes for our Anniversary!!  Thank you very, very much.  You are all dear friends.

MC AND I TAKE OVER SAVANNAH!

As everyone knows by now, MC and I are celebrating our 55th Anniversary.    We decided to use our Gift Certificate ...gifted to us at Christmas by Steve, Angela, Tess and Isabelle for a two night stay at a Bed and Breakfast Inn in Savannah.

Our Gift Certificate was for the Armstrong Inns:

armstronginns.com

They have quite a number of choices to make.  Different types of facilities to suit all.

Early Thursday evening.....Our Anniversary began with a greeting from our new neighborhood.  We have moved into a great community,  north east of Atlanta, Olde Town Grayson, in "surprise" Grayson, Georgia.

We truly have found a wonderful community when we moved here.  Everyone is super friendly and the community is just right for us!!!  I think there will be a total of under 125 homes when built out.

MC gave me another gift before we left, in addition to the beautiful Post he wrote on the Blog!  He had our CAR WASHED.......................Oh how I love a clean,  shinny car, inside and out!  I know it just rides smoother!!!

IT'S SO HAPPY, IT'S SMILING

We headed out for Savannah around 11:00am Friday morning the 25th... no need to get up too early!   It's about a 4 1/2 drive and we were due to arrive around five.

Made it in plenty of time, even with a stop for a break, at Panera's, of course, in Augusta.

OUR ARMSTRONG INN
THE CHATHAM SUITE

We are staying at the Armstong Inn in  the Chatham Suite  on the corner of West Wayne and Barnard Street in front of Chatham Square.
It's actually a townhome!  We have two floors with living, dining, and a full  kitchen  on the first floor and a huge bedroom and bath upstairs!!  There are three fireplaces,  two TV's,  two balconies, etc, etc.

FIRST FLOOR

THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE

OUR LIFE-SAVING HANDRAIL

Believe me, we would never make it up the stairs WITHOUT this ingenious feature!!!

WHEN we were able to get upstairs, we found a fabulous
Master Suite

Roaming around the "suite".  What can I say......we can't go anywhere without our computers!!!

DID YOU NOTICE THAT BED!
MC WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW HE WAS GOING TO GET IN
BUT

 AHH
HE MADE IT!
SO SO COZY

Savannah is a beautiful city.  We have walked all around enjoying the homes, shops, and the lovely Squares!!

I have already been on Realtor.com to snoop! Found a great "buy" on Bull Street for $3,400,000.
Where ever we go, even Hawaii, we checked out housing and houses for sale.  This is a winner!

I can not leave this Post without the
HIGHLIGHT OF OUR WEEKEND

I mentioned earlier in this Post that when we travel we "house hunt and or look at homes.  NORMAL people go to museums, shops, places of history.   Not us......WE LOOK AT HOUSES!!!

I HAD TO ADD THIS SIDE TRIP TO OUR AFTERNOON.....
LAST YEAR I WAS IN A BOOK CLUB IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, DOLCETTO.  ONE OF THE AUTHORS WE READ WAS MARY KAY ANDREWS.  I EVEN WENT TO ONE OF HER BOOK SIGNINGS!
SHE HAS A SERIES OF BOOKS ABOUT FICTIONAL CHARACTERS THAT ARE INVOLVED WITH A "MOTEL" ON TYBEE ISLAND,GEORGIA.  TO THIS DAY, MARY KAY HAS A WORKING INN THERE!   I HAD TO SEE THIS PLACE.  IT EXISTS, GIRLS!!!  MC AND I DROVE OUT TO TYBEE ISLAND AND FOUND IT.

FOR THE GIRLS

MC and I can not thank Steve, Angela, Tess and Isabelle enough for this lovely, ROMANTIC,
fun weekend we have had!!!!!!!!!

And so it continues.....55+ years of BLISS

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, HONEY

TO MY ADORABLE WIFE, PATTY

July 25, 2014 marks our 55th Wedding Anniversary.

During these past 55 years we have seen this country grow from 177,830,000 people to over 318,455,00. Together, we have contributed three wonderful children to the population, who in turn have added seven more.

We have managed to survive eleven presidents and more congressmen and governors than I care to count. We have lived through four wars, three of which we were personally involved.

During these past 55 years we have lived in 36 apartments, trailers, condos and houses in 10 states, 20 municipalities and 20 ZIP codes, all of which you turned into loving homes.

Yes, there have been ups and downs and good times and not-so-good times, but we prevailed. During this time, my love for you has grown and grown. I love you now more than ever and will until the end of time.

Patty, My Honey, you are a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and my best friend. May we have many, many more anniversaries together.

Love Always,

Your Honey

A GREAT VISIT WITH TESS AND A LITTLE OF ERICA FOR GOOD LUCK!

This past week MC and I have had our Granddaughter, Tess,  staying with us.  She lives in Kimberling City,  Missouri, so  we don't get the opportunity to visit very often.  Last month she turned 15!  Now she can fly by herself.  So much easier for her to travel.
She has been the PERFECT guest!   Puts up with us OLD people!!   We have had a ball.  A trip to Stone Mountain, the weekend with Patti  (with lots and lots of shopping) and a short stop to see Erica in Asheville.

Now for a little bragging.  I can't be a Grandmother without that!!!

TESS

ERICA

Erica has been doing a Marketing Campaign for Talloni, the boutique shoe salon where she works.  The store is moving to a larger location, in the Hilton Hotel in Asheville.   Erica's "idea" for the campaign was having the three principles of the business carrying all the inventory to the new location ...in  HEELS!
Large posters are in the windows of the present location and the new one.  Fabulous!
It's going to be a store for all shoe lovers to DIE FOR!!!

OF COURSE
MC DID A "LITTLE ME" TO CELEBRATE THE OCCASION!

I don't get the chance to BRAG that often, so I really enjoyed sharing these with you.

Two beautiful girls, if I say so myself.

AND

We have three more.......

MAGGIE, who just graduated from Grad School in Mechanical Engineering, and is now in the work force with her own townhouse.
GIADA who is 4 1/2.   We will be seeing next month!!!  She lives in TN. with our Son, Bobby and  Carla.
ISABELLE  turned 4 last month.  She has lived in Asia her whole life and we just learned that our Son, Steve, Angela and Isabelle are moving to the States in 2 weeks.  We are so, so excited!

Maybe more bragging to follow?
