MC IS SO, SO SMART!

MC's decision not to build the cabinet, bookcase unit in the Great Room was one of his best as of yet!   As I stated the other day, his heart was not into the project.  Heck, he's built about 6 of them.  He needed something new to tackle.  He also was not crazy about the painting involved in building the units.  He hates to paint!
When he said he wanted to see what  IKEA might have, I was all for it.   We went  Tuesday ---- and last night the entire unit was up and "styled".  If he had built it, it would have cost double, and it might be finished in 3 months!
Of course we got ideas for other areas of the house.  Next project will be the wall in our Dining Area.  MC was going to duplicate what he had built in the BLH, but no longer.   We found great glass and metal shelves that we will look into next month!!!!
So..... TaDa.... you are now in for a treat!
Here are pictures of our "custom" shelves in the Great Room.  MC did make a base to give them a built-in look.  They came with legs, which we didn't care for.

This has to be the FASTEST project MC has ever done!
It looks perfect in the space....as if it was made for it.... and our treasures are finally out to enjoy!

The Happily Ever After House is really developing .......everything looks like it was meant to be!

MC IS "THINKING"

I could see that MC had lost the "desire" or "passion" to repeat another built-in next to the fireplace  as he did in our last two homes.   Yesterday we looked around and BAM we found something!  MC was energized!  That's what I needed to see.....That PASSION/ENERGY!!!

This afternoon we headed to  IKEA in Atlanta and found exactly what he wanted......plus some other ideas for the months ahead!

He still had to "adjust"  it (MAKE IT HIS OWN)   to fit the space, so it is somewhat "custom"!!!
I'll share the space and the progress, as small as it is......

CURIOUS?

THE REST IS IN THE GARAGE......

TO BE CONTINUED!

PS.....IKEA'S new chocolate cake is to die for!!!!!  Much better than the apple cake!

15 DAYS !!!

We have been in our "HAPPILY EVER AFTER" home for 15 days.

I think we have accomplished a huge amount, starting with my unpacking over 60 boxes the first day!

The floor plan is quite different than any we have ever had.  Upon entering you are standing in a Grand Hall that goes 18 feet!

This gave us a wonderful space to display some of our large Art pieces from Asia and Erica!

Half way down the Grand Hall there is an opening to a smaller hall which has our Guest Bath, MC's den and our Guest Room/Sitting Room/ Whatever Room!  We will be purchasing an EZ blow up bed that opens with legs to give it bed height.  Whenever we have guests we will pull it out!  It closes up to the size of a large suit case.  They are the size of a queen bed and are quite comfortable!

Patti and Mark gave us this "Sign" for Christmas and we felt it was at home with
Robert Sexton's print "The Vow" and my brother Bobby's art version!
These are hung in the smaller hall.

At the end of the hall is our Great Room/Dining Room and Kitchen

TERRACE

We gave up our vista view in the BLH, but we have so much privacy with our new Terrace.  Our neighbors from Sun City, Magda and Alan,  gave us the inspiration for the roll up shades and also for those fun saddle stools!

All this in 15 days.....................
Lots has been accomplished and we have a long, long list of projects for MC and the future!  You know he will be constructing a wall unit behind the dining table and of course a built-in in the space next to the fireplace.

I have changed very few pieces since we moved in.  I have stuck with my first visions pretty closely.  Most of our things moved right into place.  We did purchase two new chandeliers and the three stools.  In the future we will slowly replace the remaining light fixtures.

When the built-in and the wall unit are done, I can start my "decor"  displaying our treasures.  Right now they are in our huge, walk-in pantry "room"!  That and our real attic are rooms/spaces we have never had before.  They are fabulous.  Not much for picture taking, but wonderful spaces never the less!!

THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER HOME ......START TO FINISH

Tuesday, November 19th,  MC and I proceeded  to write a  Contract on the new home in Grayson, contingent on the sale of the BLH!

We had no idea we would be making such a decision that day!!!  Surprised us both!  We were not prepared and MC made a trip to the bank to get a check so we could write the deposit!

In the end, it made sense because there was only one house left that was the Model we preferred.  If we sold the BLH quickly, we wanted a place to go!     Linda had put the house on the market the week before.

Within a three hour period,   the contract was written ,  wood flooring, cabinetry, outdoor lighting, brick color, wall paint color, hardware and carpet were all chosen!!!!  Did it all!!!  Having worked as a New Construction Realtor for many years, helping  buyers choose their colors, etc. really came in handy that afternoon!

Meg Thompson, the Site Agent, was  very helpful and Linda, our Agent, was a Godsend!  MC had no idea what we were choosing.  He stayed out of the process entirely!   He left it up to me, saying he knew I would choose wisely!!!

At six o'clock we were on the road on our way to celebrate at Macaroni Grill!!!  Linda treated us to a fabulous meal and a bottle of wine!

The day was unbelievable.  I guess when something is right, it's meant to be!

NOW ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS SELL THE BLH!!

We had Thanksgiving, our Home on the Sun City Holiday Tour, Christmas and New Years ahead of us!  The time went by very quickly!

The construction of our new home  continued.  We made weekly trips to see the progress.

On January 14th,  a charming couple from Florida, drove up to see the house.  The next afternoon, the 15th, they wrote a Contract contingent on the sale of their home in Florida.

Long story SHORT.......they sold their home and we  closed on our HAPPILY EVER AFTER HOME  last Friday, March 28th.  The movers unloaded all our "stuff" that afternoon!  Saturday, March 29th I had unpacked 60 boxes and the kitchen was fully operating!   We still have pictures, mirrors  to hang and lots and lots of projects.

I'm sure you want to SEE some pictures.  I have a few, surprise!

UNFINISHED ATTIC....A HUGE BONUS

Now you have an idea of  our doings over the last four months.  We have been busy!
The success of the sale of the BLH was ALL DUE  to our FABULOUS REALTOR,
LINDA HILLEY!!
Without Linda, none of the above would have come to be!
