A LITTLE FAMILY VISIT!

It has been over a week since I wrote a Post!
There is a reason!
Nothing to report!!!

Then,  late Thursday night/Friday morning at  2:00am,  our Daughter, Patti and our SIL, Mark, arrived from High Point, N.C.   They were delayed HOURS with accidents on the road and terrible traffic!

We all slept-in Friday morning!  No specific place to go .....a completely free day to PLAY!

Patti and I decided to visit our fun shopping hang outs!

After we Filled-Up there was no stopping us!

First Stop.
The Coffee Shop in Senoia

During the Filming of The Walking Dead, this replaces the "Real" sign

We walked in and out of every shop.  This is becoming a "Ritual"!!!
Patti found a pair of shoes.   I think the last three times we have spent an afternoon in Senoia, she finds great fun shoes!

These ended up being our only purchase for the entire day!  But really aren't they FUN!

We found out from the Coffee Shop's owner that filming for The Walking Dead had been going on all morning!

Our LUCK......THEY HAD FINISHED THE SCENE BY THE TIME WE WALKED DOWN THE STREET.
This is also the Bridge and House used in the film Fried Green Tomatoes!

We headed out for Stop 2, The Avenues in Peachtree City.

We hit all our favorites!  Don't know how but I managed not to find one single thing!!!  Amazing!

The plans at this point were to meet the guys and our Granddaughter, Maggie, who drove down from Atlanta, at Frank's!!!

YOU ARE HIT WITH THESE TEMPTING TREATS BEFORE YOU EVEN ARE SEATED!

PATTI AND I ARRIVED BEFORE THE REST, SO NOT TO WASTE ANY TIME....

WHAT ELSE?

AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE GUYS AND MAGGIE ARRIVED!

MC THINKING ABOUT WHAT HE WILL HAVE!

Maggie did order a Baklava for dessert  !!!!   The rest of us.....could hardly move, let alone have a dessert!

This was a very SPECIAL Surprise!  When Patti and Mark were on their trip to Boston earlier this summer they bought us this fabulous knob for our kitchen cabinets......

I think I have started a Great Tradition!!!
Now, when I find a great unusual knob,    I'll get it!   Each one will have a Special Story.
We already have two that Steve and Angela brought back from South Africa!
And, a friend brought us back one from his trip to Europe!
This will be fun!

HOPEFULLY THE WORK ON OUR MASTER BATH AND THE FRENCH DOORS WILL START THIS COMING TUESDAY MORNING!!!

I KNOW WE'RE IN FOR SOME MESSY DAYS!

I WILL BE REPORTING BACK WITH ANY AND ALL UPDATES!

WHITTLING THE TIME AWAY

IT HAS NOT BEEN EASY, STAYING BUSY AND NOT THINKING ABOUT THE TWO PROJECTS WE HAVE  PLANNED.

David, our contractor has had so many back ups with the weather.  It has rained everyday for months.  I think we have had two days without  rain.  Most of his jobs are outside terraces and porches.  It has really been a stumbling block for him.

I'm still hoping we see him sometime the first week of September, but I can't count on it!

Meanwhile, I get into trouble dreaming up small little projects and moving accessories around!

The Wine Bar was one!  Ordering the small wine cooler took care of the Whites!   A couple of days ago I came up with a way to house our Red Wines.  We had a six bottle wine holder in one of the cubbies .  The remaining Reds were in one of the lower kitchen cabinets.

I asked MC if he could make a piece that would hold about 12 bottles.  That was Sunday.......Today it's finished and in place!!!!

We moved the rack that holds 6 bottles to the middle "cubicle".  Leaving the larger one for MC's new creation!

Total  Cost = ZERO.  Used scrap lumber and paint on hand.

I suggested to MC when it was all together that we needed to buy MORE WINE!!!

MC was busy, busy......and my mind was playing tricks!   I "somehow" convinced him to do a little switch with two mirrors!!!

AND THE FUN BEGINS...STEP ONE

It will be a long few weeks!  Waiting for the  work to begin is hard for me.  For a girl who has  NO PATIENCE, I'm holding up pretty good!
I think MC is actually proud of me.  I haven't been TOO unmanageable.

STEP ONE

David and his crew will probably start working on the shower and the French Doors the week of Labor Day.  Availabilities of products, weather and subcontractor's schedules all play important roles in the big picture.....
19 days!  Hopefully will be the formal start!
That's not TOO LONG!  Well not long for most.  It was over two months ago when this project was literally "BORN"!  (by that I mean MC going along!)
In Reality,  The "Epiphany" was created  (in my head)   not long after we moved in!  It took all this time to get it going.

Meanwhile, we do have a small element complete!  Remember I saw the possibility of a wine bar in the built-ins?  I restyled the cabinet on the "outside" side of the wall.   This will be just a few steps from the new French Doors!  We also added a wine refrigerator under the cabinet.  It holds just the right amount of white wine bottles.

It took a lot of research, but MC found one on line that "fit".  The space was very small!  It had  to be less than 15" width and not too deep....leaving room to fit in the space.

added design feature....
You can store open bottles upright!!

WE ARE ON OUR WAY

LET THE PARTIES BEGIN

PRODUCT REVIEW.....WARNING!

Hi,
I am sure you ALL have seen the commercial.....................

THE POCKET HOSE

About three weeks ago
MC bought one at Bed Bath and Beyond

It was great!

It worked just like it was advertised to do!

NO KINKS
EASY TO MOVE
IT WAS GREAT

and
 then

IT BLEW UP!!!!

Yesterday, MC returned it to
 Bed Bath and Beyond.

They graciously gave MC the choice of a replacement or a credit to his account.  The sales associate, smiled and recommended he opt for the  credit!!!!  She said they have had a lot of returns!!!!  All with the same problem!!!

It's too bad.  It was so easy to move around.  No kinks, just like it was advertised!  Oh well!  It's a good thing MC didn't throw away our old, but reliable hose!

I CAN'T KEEP A SECRET!!!

I TRULY WAS NOT GOING TO MENTION ANYTHING, NOT A SINGLE  LITTLE WORD,  ABOUT MY LATEST EPIPHANY!  TRULY

But, there is so much time before it happens that I will go nuts not talking about it.  I have nothing else on my mind..well almost nothing!

Yesterday our fabulous contractor, David, owner of Double D&D Remodeling,  stopped by with the latest info on our shower project.  Remember, we are having him tear out our soaking tub and shower that are in the Master Bath and replace them with  an eleven foot, walk-in shower.  The tiles that are on the floor will continue into the new space and up the wall to the ceiling.  A new water proof, privacy window will replace the existing one,  and an 8 foot glass wall will be installed .  (which will leave 3 feet to walk into the shower without needing a door).

He will be doing the work the first week of September.   OH A LONG WAIT! A little set back.  He had a few health issues that he had to deal with, but now he's back on the job!  He is so good and in such demand!  When he drives down  the street,  the residents appear flying out their doors to ask him about a job they want done!  Really!!!

He grew up playing on the land that Del Webb  is now  building our Sun City Peachtree.  When finished, there will be over 3200 homes.  I love to tease him about when he was a boy  playing in these woods, he never imagined this would be the land on which  he would be making his living.

Back to my latest fantasy!   ---EPIPHANY---

For well over a year I have been trying to "arrange",  in my head,  the furniture in the Great Room to accommodate a French Door going out,  on to the Terrace.  I  picture the room opening up and flowing out.....so romantic and so so  "Southern"!!!  I know, I'm from Long Island, New York, not Savannah, Georgia!

My idea is to remove the center two windows and replace them with French Doors opening out.
Can't you just see it?

Finally, I got it......I GOT IT!
It was right there all along...basically just moving the sofa about a foot closer to the cocktail table and rearranging the chairs!  You can hardly tell!

An added bonus! Now the large "shelf", top of the lower cabinet, of the wall unit  has become  a Wine Center!  There is "power" in there.  We could put a small refrigerator for white wines. OH BOY, how clever is that?

The two center windows will be replaced with French Doors
Once more....I am in a WAITING mode....like it or not!
